RAWALPINDI: The Race Course police have arrested five men who were allegedly involved in illegal betting during Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
The operation was conducted during a crackdown on illegal activities. Gambling amount of Rs 38,000, 3 motorcycles, 2 laptops, 16 mobile phones, and TV, and booking boxes were recovered from the possession of the suspects.
According to a spokesman of the Race Course police, the arrested accused are Danish, Shahid, Arsalan, Abdul Ghafar alias Fari, and Noman while the police seized the goods recovered.
The police spokesman said that the seized motorcycles and other goods worth millions of rupees have been filed after the seizure under the Gambling Act against the accused.
The accused have been shifted to the police station for further investigation. SP Potohar Syed Ali has congratulated SHO Sardar Pervez and the team on successful action against the bookies.
SP Potohar Syed Ali said that action against gamblers is part of CPO Rawalpindi’s social crime campaign, particularly against gambling.
