Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially inaugurated the second phase of the ‘Clinics on Wheels’ initiative in Lahore, further strengthening efforts to provide accessible healthcare to residents at their doorstep.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, the chief minister announced that more than 10 million patients have benefitted from the services of 911 mobile clinics operating across Punjab in recent months.
She noted that the project is currently delivering free medical treatment to over 45,000 people daily throughout the province.
Highlighting the upgraded features, Maryam Nawaz said the newly launched mobile clinics are fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern medical facilities, staffed by qualified doctors and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
To enhance monitoring and accountability, a real-time tracking system has also been introduced, allowing authorities to evaluate the performance and outreach of the mobile units.
The program, which began with approximately 250 vehicles in its first phase, has now expanded significantly. With the deployment of additional units, the initiative aims to reach around 4 million more people across all districts of Punjab.
These mobile clinics cater to both urban and rural populations, offering a wide range of services including childbirth delivery, essential medical care, and diagnostic testing.
