Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that bicycles are still used as a mode of transportation in Europe, so why not here? The culture of cycling must be awakened in Pakistani cities.
According to details, on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said in her message that the bicycle is the best mode of transport for human health and environmental protection. By adopting bicycles, health and the natural environment can be saved.
Maryam Nawaz said that bicycles not only save fuel but also protect from pollution and diseases. Students of schools and colleges should be encouraged to cycle, and they should be made aware of the benefits of using bicycles.
She said that the use of bicycles should be prioritized for a healthy lifestyle. The UNO has also recognized the importance of bicycles since 2018 by declaring it an affordable and environmentally friendly mode of transport. Cycling culture is being promoted for a healthy and safe environment.
It should be noted that today, World Bicycle Day is being celebrated in Pakistan and around the world, aiming to draw attention to the benefits of using bicycles, which are simple, affordable transportation and a sustainable and suitable means of travel from an environmental perspective.
In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3rd as World Bicycle Day, with the purpose of promoting bicycles as a replacement for other vehicles, including motorcycles and cars that emit smoke.
