Well-known fashion designer and activist Maria B has responded to criticism from fellow designer Fahad Hussayn regarding her social commentary. Hussayn had previously expressed concerns that Maria B was commenting on issues beyond her area of expertise.
In her response on Instagram, Maria B wrote, “I’m not surprised by anything this boy said, except that he thinks I have a mediocre career and am doing this for attention. People like you will never understand what Imaan is or what it feels like to stand against Haraam.” She also addressed Hussayn directly, saying, “Mr. Fahad, read the comments from the people of Pakistan below.”

Earlier, Hussayn had criticized Maria B’s recent commentary on Barzakh, stating, “No one wants to correct her? Why? Are we responsible for her mediocre career, where she has to resort to creating hate content to run her business? Why are we not addressing minority hatred instead of focusing on what someone filmed? Watching it is a choice. What happened to everyone’s priorities? Who gave her the authority to address the masses on matters beyond her understanding?”
Before this, Maria B in a video posted on her Instagram account, argued that Barzakh promotes vulgarity and supports an LGBTQ agenda.
