ISLAMABAD: The corrupt officials of the Islamabad Excise and Taxation department have looted 8 million from a citizen.
According to the information received in this regard, Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq has bought a Lexus car (LX-750) Applied for Model 2019 from car dealer Muhammad Younis son of Muhammad Rafiq for Rs 7.5 million. Sources said an agreement was also reached between the parties on stamp paper.
Sources said ETO Chaudhry Tariq and Inspector Mushtaq checked the file of the vehicle and stamped it as ok, after which the vehicle went to Excise Inspector Habib Gujjar for physical checking. He also satisfied after physical checking, sources added.
Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq said after the officials’ approval he submitted the challan fee of Rs 3122,874 at the National Bank on September 29, 2020, and applied for the number 777 and also paid the remaining amount to the dealer.
He said two weeks later, the same excise officers began to work tirelessly and demanded a bribe. According to the victim, the officials of the excise office along with the dealer took Rs 320, 000 and also want to confiscate the car.
Chaudhry Muhammad Mushtaq further said, “I have American citizenship and came to Pakistan to invest. Why would I buy an illegal car?”
He appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, provincial IGP to order action against corrupt officials and urged Director ETO and Commissioner to review the procedures made by excise officials.
