CHITRAL: Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in the Laspur area of Upper Chitral for marrying an 11-year-old girl.
The action has been taken at the request of the girl’s father. The father complained in the FIR that the young man had abducted the girl. Police in this regard said that a formal marriage ceremony was also held.
The girl’s father said that after the abduction, her daughter was taken to another village for marriage. The DPO said that action had been taken under the Child Marriage Act and an FIR had been registered.
According to the FIR, his daughter had disappeared from the house around two or three days ago. The father said that those who kidnapped his daughter and lured her into marriage are his close relatives who often used to visit his house.

Authorities have said the matter will now go to court after the FIR. The DPO said that action has been taken under the Child Marriage Act and an FIR has been registered. On the other hand, the husband of the 11-year-old girl said that the girl had gone with the accused voluntarily and he was his relative.
They were happily married there. However, when the family of the girl found out that since it comes under the Child Protection Act, a case was filed against it. The girl has also been rescued and the boy has been arrested.
In the remote and backward district of Chitral in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there have been cases of marriages of minors with outsiders before. Recently, the famous former car race champion Sultan had a case of marrying a 12-year-old girl.
