ISLAMABAD: The bureaucracy is riffled with the arrest of a man impersonating as the legal adviser of the Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and efforts are being made to let him go scot-free, it has been learnt.
On 6th August, Islamabad police arrested the accused falsely claiming to be Justice Shahzad Qamar Bashir, a legal adviser to the Chairman NAB. He was apprehended along with fake staff while driving a luxury vehicle belonging to the owner of a shopping plaza.
The suspect was also accused of blackmailing several high-profile personalities and businessmen. He even managed to extort large amounts from high-ranking bureaucrats and policemen.
Sources revealed the bureaucracy has been irked by his arrest and is making efforts to absolve him so that their names do not surface during further investigation and cause embarrassment.
It has been revealed the luxury vehicle belonging to the shopping plaza’s owner has been returned without any laboratory forensic tests. The fraudster was part of mafia blackmailing influential individuals and defaming the anti-graft watchdog.
