Renowned Pakistani drama actress Saima Qureshi, who divorced due to intolerance in her marriage, has made controversial remarks, stating that a man does not need his first wife’s permission for a second marriage.
Speaking in a YouTube podcast, she also claimed that only a man’s earnings bring blessings, while a woman’s income lacks prosperity.
A short clip from the podcast has gone viral on social media, drawing severe backlash. In the video, Saima Qureshi asserts that women tend to remind others of their financial contributions, whereas men’s earnings carry true blessings.
She further stated that Islam does not mandate a husband’s permission from his first wife for a second marriage, arguing that polygamy was encouraged to prevent extramarital affairs.
Qureshi emphasized that society must accept what is right, regardless of public opinion.
She insisted that a legitimate marriage is far better than an unlawful relationship, adding that while a first wife may initially be upset, she will eventually accept polygamy as it aligns with religious teachings.
