KARACHI: Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai accompanied by her parents arrived in Karachi on Tuesday to visit the flood-hit areas across the country.
Just last month, the Malala Fund issued an emergency relief grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), aimed at providing psychosocial support to girls and women in flood-hit Sindh and Balochistan.
The funding will also cater for the delivery of emergency education services to ensure girls continue their education. The assistance from the Malala Fund will help repair and rehabilitate ten damaged government schools for girls.
This is the second time that the Nobel laureate returned to Pakistan to provide help to the affected people in the flood-hit areas.
It has been learnt that the Sindh Home Department has issued directives to make strict security arrangements for Malala. A special police unit was reportedly making arrangements in this regard.
