The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the installation of temporary mechanical swings across the province during Eidul Adha holidays due to safety concerns.
According to local media reports, the decision was made on Sunday to prioritize public safety during the festive season, when large numbers of children typically visit amusement parks.
It should be noted that the ban specifically targets temporary mechanical rides, which often fail to meet essential safety and security standards, particularly in relation to overloading risks.
However, the government has clarified that permanently installed mechanical swings in amusement parks are exempt from the ban, provided they fully comply with established safety regulations.
To ensure adherence, the Home Department has directed that fitness certificates for all permanent mechanical rides must be obtained from the respective Deputy Commissioners in each district.
District administrations have been instructed to verify the safety standards of all such rides and ensure they are deemed safe for public use.
