The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a price increase for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) effective August 1, according to a notification issued on Monday.
As per the notification, the price of LPG has risen by Rs 2.27 per kilogram, setting the new rate at Rs 236.99 per kilogram. Consequently, the cost of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder has increased by Rs 26.90, bringing the total price to Rs 2,796.56.
For comparison, the price of an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder in July was Rs 2,769.66. This latest hike reflects OGRA’s periodic adjustments in fuel prices.
The revised pricing will affect consumers across the country, particularly households that depend on LPG for cooking and heating. This change is expected to add further strain on household budgets amid rising inflation and economic challenges.
OGRA has periodically adjusted LPG prices to align domestic rates with international market trends. However, the frequency and magnitude of these increases often draw criticism from consumer rights groups and the public, who point to the growing financial burden on average citizens.
