The proverb ‘Jaisi Awam waisay Hukmuran’ correctly defines the people of Pakistan. In a bid to contain the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Sindh government designated around 500 sites all over Karachi for collectively performing the ritual of sacrificing animals on the occasion of Eidul Azha.
A collective sacrifice would help ensure quick disposal of animal waste as well as cleanliness in the city. And in the entire world, the government designated some places where Muslims can perform the ritual of sacrificing animals. However, as we predicted, not a single person followed the rules.
The people of Karachi slaughtered their sacrificial animals in front of their homes and on the streets. In this regard, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board claimed that they along with district municipal corporations lifted and disposed of 51,312 tonnes of offal during the three days of Eidul Azha in Karachi.
And if authorities unintentionally fail to dispose of offal and other waste of sacrificial animals, then we start criticizing the government and concerned authorities. The so-called social activist make videos and point out the negligence, which was done by them. Can someone point out the negligence of the citizens?
A few months back, the government imposed a 14-day lockdown to curb the coronavirus spread. But the citizens were chilled out and were still roaming around the streets. Then we criticized the government for the increase in the number of infections. I always see people breaking laws, traffic signals, shopkeepers with encroachments, etc. These things count.
Our pretended activists always raised voice against the incompetence of the government, but why they don’t look into their own collars, why they don’t look for their own errors. Apart from some people, everyone in Pakistan wants special treatment. Everyone finds some ‘SOURCE’ for completing their work as soon as possible.
There are some responsibilities of a good citizen that every person must follow. These responsibilities don’t only improve our surroundings but also give inner peace to us. It’s time to act responsibly for the prosperity and the well-being of Pakistan.
