RAWALPINDI: Former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ex-Finance Minister Miftah Ismail will be presented before an accountability court today in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract case.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with Miftah Ismail will be produced before the court as their judicial remand end today.

Judge Muhammad Bashir will resume the hearing while former finance minister Miftah Ismail and another accused, Sheikh Imran ul Haq will also be produced before the court.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will plead for another extension into the remand of the accused.
On 11th October, the court extended the judicial remand of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail till 28th October.

On July 18, Abbasi was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) while en-route to Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore in a multi-billion-rupee case related to the award of an LNG import contract.
Khaqan is facing charges of corruption and awarding an LNG import contract at exorbitant rates in 2015, which caused big loss to the national funds.
The NAB revealed that he had granted a tender worth Rs220 bn to a firm in which he himself was a shareholder.
