DUBAI: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that he would like to enhance collaboration in the space sector with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During his visit to the Khaleej Times news daily in Dubai, Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan wanted expanded cooperation with the UAE in the sectors of space, museums, and agriculture.
Chaudhry further said that the UAE recently opened a space university and Pakistan would like to increase its cooperation in this regard with UAE.
Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan ia preparing to send our first humanitarian mission to space in 2022. I would want UAE Space University to sign Memorandum of Understanding with Pakistani universities,” he added.
Chaudhry earlier demanded a strict international framework on space missions. In his tweet, he posted that protecting the space was as important as protecting the environment.
He wrote, “Space belonged to every human, its as important as protecting the environment we need a strict international framework on space missions.”
Chaudhry’s tweet came after the report of Nasa’s Orbital Debris Programme Office (ODPO) that included India in the countries contributing to space junk. How ever, New Delhi’s contribution in that space junk is much less than the top three polluters: Russia, the US, and China.
