KARACHI:The Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) personnel claimed to have arrested a most wanted terrorist during a joint operation in Karachi’s Karachi’s SITE area on Friday.
As per details, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) with other intelligence agencies have apprehended a most wanted terrorist affiliated with a banned outfit organisation, during a targeted operation conducted in the area.
In-charge CTD Shahid Karim said the arrested terrorist, Jan Alam is involved in several high-profile cases, including the martyrdom of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bahauddin in 2014, had masterminded the suicide attack on Inspector Shafiq Tanoli and conducted bomb blast attack at an Imambargah in 2013.
The CTD official further said the arrested terrorist is an expert in making pressure bombs, tennis ball bombs and motorcycle bombs, adding that the accused had received training in Afghanistan.
Shahid Karim said that the accused name and his three other accomplices are included in the CTD’s Red Book and were involved in a grenade attack on Mominabad Police Station, he added.
He said the arrested terrorist is also accused of murdering two policemen during the Karachi’s Metroville area in 2014 and is also charged for attacking his wife’s uncle.
The terrorist is also accused of murdering Awami National Party (ANP)’s Amir Sardar in 2012 and later carrying out pressure-cooker IED blast at his funeral prayers.
