LAHORE: Newly-appointed Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi launched the kit for the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The Qalandars have unveiled two new kits of light green and red colours. The green is for home, while the red one will be worn by players in away matches, as the tournament is scheduled to be played in Karachi and Lahore.
The seventh season of the cricket tournament will kick off on January 27 in Karachi and conclude a month later in Lahore. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi unveiled the kits and said he was honoured to do it. “My team is preparing well and we will make it exciting, just wait and watch,” Afridi added.

On January 20, Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana and has expressed his desire for the Lahore Qalandars to win the seventh edition of the PSL, During the meeting, the newly-appointed skipper and Director Operations Qalandars Aqib Javed, and Special Assistant to the PM on Youth Affairs were also present.
The prime minister said the franchise’s decision to appoint a young captain — Shaheen Shah Afridi — would prove to be fruitful. “Youngsters have always changed the course of matches,” the prime minister noted.
He added that the Qalandars have made a “unique” position for themselves among the PSL franchises. “Talent hunt at the grass root level is one the specialities of the Qalandars.”
The prime minister also lauded the young pacer’s performance during the T20 World Cup — which was one of the main reasons behind Pakistan’s historic win against India — and asked him to continue making his mark in cricket.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the franchise apprised the prime minister of the Qalandars future plans for cricket and also acknowledged the progress that the franchise made in the Kamyab Jawan Sports Programme. The premier appreciated the Lahore Qalandars and achievements made through the Kamyab Jawan Programme.
