Parents and students have expressed strong concerns over the Lahore Education Board’s significant increase in admission fees for private matriculation candidates.Â
As per details, for Grade 9, the admission fee has risen by 36%, increasing from Rs. 1,610 to Rs. 2,200, while for Grade 10, the fee has jumped by 50%, going from Rs. 2,310 to Rs. 3,480. This translates to an additional Rs. 590 for Grade 9 and Rs. 1,170 for Grade 10.
In addition to admission fees, other charges have also been raised. The Grade 10 certificate fee has been increased from Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,000. Sports fees now stand at Rs. 280, up from Rs. 100, while development fees have climbed from Rs. 200 to Rs. 350. Processing fees have also been raised, going from Rs. 530 to Rs. 870.
Admission form fees have seen a hike as well, increasing from Rs. 700 to Rs. 900.
Board officials defended the decision, stating the increases are necessary to sustain daily operations since education boards do not receive government funding.
