Final-year students from the Pharmacy Department at the University of Karachi have created the smallest rechargeable nebuliser in the world, designed to deliver respiratory therapy on the go for individuals with breathing difficulties.
This device, measuring under one inch in width, can operate for up to 35 minutes on a single charge, which remains functional for two days before requiring a recharge.
According to the students, the nebuliser, which is made from bioplastics and is eco-friendly, is perfect for use in workplaces or while traveling.
Featuring micro-USB and USB-C charging options, the wireless and soundproof nebuliser provides patients with discreet and convenient respiratory assistance.
Group leader Abdul Rahman highlighted that typical nebulisers available in the market are frequently bulky, loud, and range from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000, while their innovative product is priced at less than Rs 2,000.
The team is optimistic that their affordable and environmentally-conscious creation will enhance accessibility to respiratory therapy for a wider audience, particularly children and elderly individuals with asthma or chest infections.
The nebuliser was developed by Abdul Rahman Siddiqui, Taha Ishaq, Syed Waliuddin, Syeda Arshiya, Zohaib Salman, Maham Zaidi, Priyan Khan, and Tuba Saleem, who are committed to addressing significant health care issues in Pakistan.
