PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became a battleground during the local body elections after six people died at the polling station.
According to details, riots broke out in several areas of Peshawar during the local body elections yesterday. Ballot boxes were smashed at the Gulbahar polling station. In Nishtarabad, men broke into a women’s polling station.
During the local body elections in different constituencies, there were fights, riots, and vandalism among the political activists at the polling stations. In Peshawar, there was aerial firing in celebration of the victory, during which a major incident took place.
In the joy of victory, the aerial firing took place. General Counsel Muhammad Zakaria Khan from Musazai was elected on the bookmark who was shot dead during the firing.
Various incidents of violence also took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the local body elections during which two people lost their lives. Many people were injured during various clashes and votes were set on fire in Kirkuk.
There was also an exchange of fire between different political parties. The worst disturbances were also witnessed at several polling stations. Six people, including successful General Counsel Muhammad Zakaria Khan, were killed and an investigation is underway.
