The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has announced the implementation of a one-year paid internship program for 650 BS Nursing graduates, facilitated by the Provincial Health Services Academy (PHSA). The cabinet has approved the appointment of a new chairman for the PEPOS board and its reconstitution.
The interns will be compensated with a monthly stipend of Rs31,000 and will receive training in various teaching hospitals throughout the province.
In an official statement, Ehtesham Ali, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Health, highlighted that this marks the first instance of a paid internship being introduced for BS Nursing graduates.

He said that the need for such a program became apparent after the establishment of BS Nursing courses in colleges affiliated with PHSA, prompting the health department to seek the cabinet’s approval.
“Just a month ago, I assured the protesting students that a paid internship would be established within a month. Today, we have fulfilled that promise,” remarked Ehtesham Ali.
