The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced that salaries and pensions for all provincial employees will be released by May 30, in anticipation of the upcoming Eidul Adha holidays.
In a notification issued by the Finance Department, all provincial departments and institutions have been directed to ensure that payments are processed before the end of the working month. The department noted that June 1 falls on a Sunday, a non-working day, which necessitates the early disbursement.
This decision comes amid national anticipation surrounding the official date of Eidul Adha, which will be determined based on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has scheduled a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for May 27 in Islamabad. The session, to be chaired by Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, will assess moon sighting reports to confirm the start of the Islamic month of Zul-Hijjah.
If the moon is sighted on May 27, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 6. If not, the festival will fall on June 7. However, astronomers suggest the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28.
