Due to a knee injury sustained on the fourth day of the first Test, Shaheen Afridi will miss the second Test, which will be played in Galle from 24 July.
He will stay with the Test side in Sri Lanka, where his initial rehabilitation and management will continue under the supervision of the team’s medical staff.
Shaheen was taken to the hospital for an MRI scan. Sources claim that, after receiving the results, it was concluded that his injury is not serious, but no risks will be taken in terms of his fitness.
Shaheen Afridi has led Pakistan from the front in all formats and his participation remains critical to Pakistan’s chances across the board.
The left-arm pacer picked up four wickets in the first innings but remained wicketless in the second as he only bowled 7 overs.
Haris Rauf has been identified as his potential backup granted if the management believes that Shaheen should be rested.
