Pakistani all-rounder Khushdil Shah is reportedly under serious consideration for inclusion in the national team for the forthcoming tri-series and the Champions Trophy.
Credible sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have indicated that Khushdil’s outstanding performances as a reliable all-rounder position him as one of the leading candidates for a spot in the ODI lineup.
His name has emerged in discussions due to his dual capability of contributing effectively with both bat and ball.
Khushdil has made significant contributions in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he has recorded four unbeaten innings of 73, 59, 46, and 27, while also demonstrating his bowling prowess by claiming 11 wickets in just 8 matches, further solidifying his reputation as a dependable all-rounder.
Notably, Khushdil Shah has participated in 10 ODIs for Pakistan, accumulating a total of 199 runs and taking two wickets. His last appearance for the national ODI team was in August 2022 during a match against the Netherlands.
As per reports, prior to the Champions Trophy commencing on February 19, the Pakistan team is set to engage in a tri-nation series on home soil.
It has been noted that the fitness status of Saim Ayub remains uncertain, and no selection decision has been finalized regarding his participation. Should Saim Ayub be deemed fit, the same squad will be selected for the tri-nation series, which will also serve as the Champions Trophy lineup.
In the event that Saim Ayub is not cleared for play, the selectors have already devised an alternative plan.
