KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the federal authorities to remove the name of one of the co-accused in the assets case filed against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah.
A division bench of the SHC directed Lala Akram Pathan to seek prior approval of the accountability court hearing the reference whenever he intends to travel abroad. The co-accused’s lawyer stated before that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had already filed the reference and his client was regularly attending court hearings.
The lawyer requested the court to order the federal authorities to strike the name of his client off the ECL. Last year in December, the NAB had filed the assets beyond means reference against Khursheed Shah and 17 others.
Two wives of the PPP stalwart and his two sons are among those named in the reference. The former opposition leader has been accused of Rs1.4 billion worth of financial irregularities.

Shah earlier maintained that efforts are being made to keep him away from the parliament as he has always spoken of the supremacy of the parliament. He added that he has been in custody for 12 months but so far not a single piece of evidence has been presented.
“I have become a member of the assembly with the votes of the people 8 times. What will be the greater accountability from the people and what will happen? Allah and the people are the biggest accountants,” Shah maintained.
