Apple has officially rolled out iOS 18.3, bringing a range of refinements and fixes to iPhones worldwide. Although it doesn’t introduce the groundbreaking Apple Intelligence updates seen in its predecessor, iOS 18.3 still offers several important improvements, particularly for users of Apple’s growing Visual Intelligence features.
According to a report, one of the major updates includes enhancements to Apple’s Visual Intelligence tools. For iPhone 16 users, the update brings two new features:
These features can be accessed through a new camera control button, offering a seamless way to interact with the world using AI-driven insights. In addition, Apple has made adjustments to the notification summaries feature following controversy over inaccurate summaries, such as the misinterpretation of a BBC News report.
The update temporarily disables summaries for News and Entertainment apps while the feature is being refined. Other changes include the use of italicized text to make summaries more distinguishable and the option to disable summaries for specific apps directly from the Lock Screen or Notification Center. A new beta label now warns users that summaries “may contain errors.”
Another significant change in iOS 18.3 is that Apple Intelligence is now enabled by default across all devices. However, for those who prefer more control over their AI experience, it’s easy to turn it off by going to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Toggle Off Apple Intelligence.
Though this update focuses more on refinements than major new features, iOS 18.3 is a solid step forward in improving Apple’s AI ecosystem and addressing previous concerns. If you haven’t updated your iPhone yet, it’s worth checking out these new features.
