Monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal have gradually begun entering the country, with rain and thunderstorms expected in Karachi from August 5th to 7th.
According to the meteorological office, this new spell of rain could be more intense than the previous system.
On Wednesday, light rain, drizzle, and showers were reported in various parts of the city, with the maximum temperature reaching 33.7 degrees Celsius.
Over the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Gadap, with 56.7 millimeters, as per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The PMD’s weather advisory indicates that monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are now entering the upper regions of the country with increasing intensity. The effects of this new monsoon system are expected to be felt in various parts of Sindh starting August 2nd.
According to Karachi’s Chief Meteorologist, Sardar Sarfaraz, light rain may persist in the city under this system. However, heavy rain with greater intensity is anticipated between August 5th and 7th, with some areas possibly experiencing torrential downpours.
Sardar Sarfaraz explained that after moving from the Bay of Bengal to central India, the monsoon system will begin to draw moisture from the Arabian Sea, potentially making this system stronger than the previous one.
On Wednesday, the weather in Karachi was partly cloudy in the morning and cleared up in the afternoon. Light rain, drizzle, and showers occurred in several areas, including Bahadurabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Old Vegetable Market, Tariq Road, Hasan Square, Malir Kala Board, and Malir 15.
