Karachi is bracing for an intense heatwave, with temperatures predicted to hit 40°C on Sunday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
On Saturday, the city experienced a high of 39.1°C due to weather systems over the Arabian Sea and upper Sindh, continuing a warming trend after a brief cool spell earlier in the week.
Temperatures had reached 35°C and 37.5°C on Thursday and Friday, respectively, with relative humidity dropping below 20%. The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 19°C during this period.
Meanwhile, a new weather system is set to bring rain and snowfall across Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) from March 9 to March 16. The PMD forecasts rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas, impacting both upper and plain regions of K-P, as reported by Express News.
Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMA) in Punjab and K-P have urged district administrations to stay vigilant and implement precautionary measures to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall and snowfall.
