Karachi receives its first shower of winter rain

KARACHI: Light rainfall showered in Sindh’s capital city on Friday morning which caused the temperature to dip in several parts of the province.

Several areas of Karachi such as Korangi, North Nazimabad, Orangi Town, Golimar, SITE area, Shara-e-Faisal, and Baloch Colony received light rainfall early in the morning.

Dadu, Naushehro Feroz, and adjoining areas also received downpour.

During the wet spell, a hailstorm hit Nawabshah, while low-lying areas in Sukkur engulfed after heavy rainfall in the upper Sindh city causing hardships for the citizens.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain and wind- thunderstorms at scattered places in Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Shikarpur, Shaheed Benazirbad, Jacobabad, Umer Kot, Tharparkar, Badin and Thatta districts.

Earlier on Tuesday, the PMD forecast that the rain would affect most central and southern parts of the country from Wednesday and continue till Saturday which would push mercury further down to colder weather in the city.
