KARACHI: The traffic flow of ships has been halted at the Karachi Port after fishermen completely closed a channel.
The fishermen closed the channel and have completely stopped the movement of ships coming from and going to the port. Sources revealed the closure has halted all activity at the port as anchored ships are awaitng to enter the channel.
Special Assistant Mahmood Maulvi has summoned an emergency meeting at the KPT head office. He said that he was meeting all the stakeholders to reopen the channel. Pakistan Maritime Security Agency has been contacted in this regard.
It may be recalled that earlier SAPM Mahmood Maulvi had paid an emergency visit to Karachi port after it was due closed for ships. The Karachi port was closed in August last year due to a dispute between the fisherman and the management.
