Karachi in trouble after heavy rainfall, Korangi Causeway flooded

KARACHI : The metropolitan city has received another spell of heavy showers. The monsoon spell may last till Tuesday, as reported by the authorities. 

As per Pakistan Meteorological Department’s chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, the monsoon spell is expected to last till tomorrow (Tuesday), resulting in a total of 50 mm rain.

A number Karachi’s areas received moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday evening. There was heavy precipitation in parts of the metropolitan city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road, Nagan Chowrangi, Malir, Landhi, Clifton, M.A. Jinnah Road, Lyari, Defence, North Karachi, and Golimar.

The rainstorm has brought the traffic in the metropolis to a standstill. It has added to the woes of the commuters, as the traffic flow is blocked from Shahra- e-Faisal to Nursery. The Traffic Monitoring Authorities have stated Korangi road has been flooded, and traffic has been diverted to the Qayumabad and Jam Sadiq Bridge in Karachi.

The rain will hit other cities of Pakistan including Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Kohat, Malakand, Kalat, Zhob, Sibbi, Makran, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, LahoreBahawalpur, DG Khan divisions and Kashmir.
