Goods transporters in Karachi have announced a protest rally today, stating that their vehicles are being set on fire across the province.
According to details, the deadline given by goods transporters to the Sindh government has expired, after which the transporters have announced a protest rally today at 3 PM.
Earlier, a late-night meeting of goods transporters was held in which a unanimous decision was made to protest. President of the Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance (PGTA), Malik Shehzad Awan, stated that transporters from all over Pakistan will participate in the protest rally.
He said that their vehicles are being set on fire in various areas of Sindh and that under such conditions, it is not possible to operate vehicles. He added that the Sindh government is not taking their issues seriously.
It is worth mentioning that on May 22, the transporters gave the Sindh government a 48-hour ultimatum to compensate for their losses, which has now passed.
It should be noted that on May 22, the transporters gave the Sindh government a 48-hour ultimatum to fully compensate for the damaged vehicles, oil tankers, and looted goods. Otherwise, they warned of a nationwide wheel-jam strike.
The goods transporters are also demanding legal action against those responsible for damaging their vehicles, stating that they have suffered losses amounting to 28 billion rupees.
