A man brutally murdered his 15-year-old granddaughter with an axe in the Korangi neighborhood of Karachi in the name of honor.
According to details, the incident took place in Bagh Korangi’s Marfani Goth, where Mohammed Sharif killed his granddaughter Shahzadi, 20, inside their home near Bagh-i-Korangi, according to Korangi-SSP Tauheed Rehman Memon.
The Awami Colony police recovered the axe and took the suspect into custody. Sharif confessed to the police that Shahzadi had married in Jamshoro a year earlier of her own free will. Upon bringing her back home, he allegedly killed her.
Memon remarked, “The police are treating it like a case of killing in the name of so-called honor.”
The body has been moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
Earlier this week, another couple who married for love was shot dead in the Manghopir area in an alleged honor killing. Police reported that Saira Luqman’s relatives allegedly killed her and her husband, Adil, in their home in Amir Mohammad Goth. The deceased man’s family refused to lodge an FIR, prompting the police to register a murder case on behalf of the state.
