The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday announced Rs 2.99 per unit relief for Karachi consumers, while the power tariff has been increased by Rs0.93 per unit for the rest of Pakistan.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has issued separate notifications regarding electricity prices in the monthly adjustment.
According to the notification, the electricity price for Karachi has been reduced by Rs 2.99 per unit. This reduction, applicable to K-Electric under the March 2025 monthly adjustment, effective from June’s electricity bills.
It should be noted that K-Electric had submitted a request for a reduction of Rs 5.2 per unit, however, the regulator only accepted partial relief for the Karachi residents.
According to another notification issued by Nepra, electricity has been increased by 93 paisa per unit for the rest of the country.
These additional collections from consumers will be made in the June bills. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had sought an increase of one rupee 27 paise per unit in the April 2025 adjustment.
