LAHORE: In the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi’s batting coach Kamran Akmal criticized former speed star, Shoaib Akhtar.
Shoaib Akhtar criticized Babar Azam in an interview given to a private channel recently and said that the Pakistani cricketers coming to the presentation ceremony looked strange. “they do not know how to talk and neither they come to speak English without even trying to learn it,” Akhtar was seen saying.
Akhtar said, “I want to say openly that Babar Azam should have been the biggest brand in Pakistan but he could not become a big brand because he cannot speak.” “This is the reason why former cricketers are preferred over current cricketers for advertisements of various brands,” he added.
Now, Kamran Akmal responded to the criticism by saying that his comments were a publicity stunt as he does not get much screen time and is saying such things to stay in the headlines.
Defending Babar Azam, he said that Babar’s job is to play cricket, so it is unfair to criticize him for other things, as far as his speaking and media handling are concerned. He is improving day by day, said Akmal.
