LAHORE: Pakistan and India team cruised into the semi-finals of the Kabaddi World Cup being held at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad after a convincing 62-25 Pakistan’s victory over Australia on Thursday.
According to the information made available here, in pool ‘A’, India grabbed the top spot after defeating Iran 50-39 and established their place in the last-four stage. Iran and Australia are the other two teams who also reached the semi-final positions, respectively.
Pakistan chose to incursion first after winning the toss against Australia in their Pool ‘B’ clash. Raiders including the skipper, Kaleemullah Jatt. Irfan Mana, Lala Obaidullah, and Bilal Mohsin Dhillon looked in fine form and achieved helpful points for the hosts.
On the other hand, Pakistan stoppers, Shani Basra, Musharraf Janjua, and Zafar Iqbal and their team-mates showed similar form.
Earlier, Iran managed to bear their points parallel to India at 26-23. However, India widened the point’s break in the second half and eventually won 50-39.
The World Cup action now shifts to Gujrat’s Zahoor Elahi Stadium. On Friday, hosts Pakistan faces Azerbaijan in the first match at 2:30 pm while the second match will be played between India and England at 3:45 pm.
