K-Electric has said consumers, who are income tax filers, can avoid paying advance income tax on their electricity bills.
KE spokesperson said the consumers paying income tax actively can get their bills corrected of advance taxes if the address of the bill and their CNICs are the same.
The consumers have been advised to get themselves register at the K-E website for the waiver of advance income taxes.
The spokesperson further said the KE understands the worries of the consumers about rising electricity prices, however, the taxes and fixing the rate of electricity is not their jurisdiction.
Regarding the attack on KE staff, the spokesperson said the power utility reserves the right to take legal action against provoking masses to attack its employees. He said staff members are an asset to the company and are engaged day and night in serving customers.

The spokesperson said the prerogative to determine electricity rates lies with NEPRA and the Ministry of Energy and the imposition of taxes on electricity bills is not within the jurisdiction of power distribution companies.
The spokesperson urged consumers are urged to ensure timely payment of their electricity bills for undisrupted power supply. He said provocation is not the solution and paying electricity bill is a responsibility.
