Showbiz personalities have expressed deep sorrow, grief, and anger over the brutal murder of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf in Islamabad, and have appealed for the culprit to be punished.
According to details, a man entered TikToker Sana Yousaf’s house and shot her twice before fleeing the scene. Following a case registered on the complaint of Sana’s mother, police acted swiftly and arrested the suspect, Umar Hayat, from Faisalabad.
According to the head of Islamabad Police, the suspect Umar Hayat is also a TikToker who wanted to befriend Sana. However, after repeated rejections, he committed this heinous act.
Many well-known artists from the entertainment industry strongly reacted to the incident and appealed for justice. Actress Mawra Hocane, expressing grief and anger over the tragic incident, said that when our drama industry and films portray forced relationships, obsessive love, and rejection in a romantic light, they poison young minds.
“When a girl says no, boys take it as an insult to their ego, because we’ve taught them in stories that “no” means ‘yes.'” She added.
In her Instagram post, she said that this murder is not just the crime of one individual but a result of the societal mindset we’ve nurtured for years. If we don’t stop portraying toxic relationships as love, such tragedies will keep happening.
Actress Maya Ali described the incident as inhumane, writing that it is another tragic chapter in the name of so-called honor. She wrote, “My heart is broken. An innocent girl who merely had the courage to say ‘no’ lost her life. What kind of honor is this that considers killing someone a right? I offer my heartfelt condolences to Sana’s family.”
Actress Mahira Khan also condemned the incident, saying in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that if we don’t punish the killer, this will never stop. Show his face and make him an example.
If we do not take this to task this will not stop!! Show his face – make an example out of him!! @GovtofPakistan https://t.co/LpbzEXJeAc

Dur-e-Fishan Saleem wrote in a long Instagram post that when a woman says no, many men are exposed—their love turns into rage, and their respect turns into possession. This incident reflects the toxic mindset that teaches men control instead of respect.
Actress Sajal Aly also expressed sorrow over the incident, saying, “A girl just said ‘no’ and was killed for it. What kind of apathetic society are we living in? We must learn to respect others’ boundaries and emotions.”
Singer Asim Azhar says that a young girl lost her life because she said no. He is angry and saddened by this aspect of our society that, unfortunately, still exists today. He requested parents to please work on raising their boys to be good human beings.
