In yet another incident, a 10-year-old domestic maid died after she was tortured at the residence of an influential person in Ranipur, district Khairpur in Sindh.
The unfortunate incident took place within the premises of Pir Asad Shah Jilani’s Haveli. The victim Fatima Farriro was the daughter of Nadeem Ali, a resident of Naushahro Feroze district
The CCTV footage from the house’s bedroom shows the minor girl in a distressing condition. A video showing marks of torture clearly visible on the victim’s body went viral over social media.
There was outrage over the incident and an outpouring of support for the minor victim. The hashtag #JusticeForFatimaFariro soon became the top trend on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.
Netizens called for justice for the minor girl who was tortured and eventually passed away. Others said that arresting the suspect was not enough and he should be given an exemplary punishment.
Actress Nadia Jamil joined the conversation saying, “Pir Asad Shah arrested for raping and torturing nine year old Fatima to death. I hope he rots in hell”.
There were also calls for placing a ban on child labour and freeing all minors who are employed. There have also been calls for incriminating those involved in hiring minors.
The house owner Asad Jillani, a doctor who treated her at a hospital, and a SHO who did not file the case, have been arrested on the orders of SSP Khairpur.
