ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday asked Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to avoid march towards Islamabad on October 27 as it is the day of expressing solidarity with Kashmiri people.
Talking to a private news channel, the foreign minister suggested that the JUI-F chief should review the date of his march so that the Kashmir cause should not be disturbed on the same day.
He said India had occupied the valley on October 27, and on the same date, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is launching the march towards Islamabad which can damage the Kashmir cause and Pakistan.
Earlier today, Fazlur Rehman likened his upcoming ‘Azadi’ March to a war, which he said would “only end when the government falls”.
“The entire country will be our battleground,” he told reporters in Peshawar, adding that ‘a flood of people” from all walks of life will come to the federal capital. He has announced to hold ‘Azadi March’ in Islamabad from October 27.
PM, entire nation stands with Kashmir
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and entire nation is standing with the Kashmiri people in their struggle of freedom.
Addressing the first session of National Zakariya Conference in Multan, he said curfew has been imposed in Occupied Kashmir for last two month, and the ill and injured Kashmiris are deprived of treatment and other basic amenities of life.
The foreign minister said that negotiations for the settlement of Afghanistan issue are in progress. He maintained that Afghan people have suffered bloodshed for the long period which should be ended now.
He thanked Punjab chief minister approving the expansion of the shrines of Bahauddin Zakariya, Shah Ruknuddin Alam Soharwardy and Bibi Pak Daman projects.
He said that foundation stone of Nishter-2 hospital project has been laid which will help in providing latest treatment facilities to the people of Southern Punjab and Baluchistan.
