LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Monday nominated Zahid Akram Durrani for the post of the National Assembly Deputy Speaker.
After his nomination, Zahid Akram Durrani also collected the nomination papers for the slot.
Earlier on Monday, the National Assembly secretariat issued a schedule for the election of the NA deputy speaker slot.
According to the schedule, the election for the vacant seat of deputy speaker will take place on April 20 while nomination papers can be submitted for the slot till April 19 (Tuesday) at 12 pm with Secretary National Assembly. The nomination papers can be obtained from the legislative branch of the lower house of Parliament.
It was further revealed that the new federal cabinet is likely to be sworn in on Monday, as matters have been settled in the ruling coalition for the formation of a new federal cabinet and 10 to 12 ministers will be sworn in during the first phase.
In addition, Khawaja Asif may get the portfolio of Commerce Minister, Rana Sanaullah may get the portfolio of Interior Minister and Maryam Aurangzeb may get the portfolio of Information Minister.
Sources said that Hina Rabbani Khar could get the portfolio of Minister of State for External Affairs, Shazia Marri of PPP, or Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar for the portfolio of the Ministry of Human Rights.
Miftah Ismail could be given the post of Finance Advisor. Whereas, Rana Tanveer may get the portfolio of Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
