ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information, Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the journalists visiting quarantine centres to report on the COVID-19 pandemic would be provided kits of protective gear.
While addressing a meeting of the information ministers of all four provinces via video link today, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that we have been trying our level best to help the citizens in a difficult time. The federal government has taken all the possible steps to curb the spread of the COVID-19, she further said.
Awan while talking about the emerging numbers of COVID-19 patients, Awan said that the premier was against hiding facts in this situation as it would not help the government to combat the virus.
Earlier this week, Awan said that the federal government’s package, including food, protective gear would be provided in all provinces across the country. Some people were trying to save their sinking boards by doing politics on coronavirus outbreak, she added.
Firdous Awan also announced that medical staff in Punjab would be given one month’s extra salary and if a medical staff member dies while treating coronavirus patients, their families would receive the same package.
