Joker sequel’s images reveal new looks of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix

Director Todd Phillips has released two new images from his forthcoming sequel to his 2019 box office hit Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix reprising his Oscar-winning role and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.

Phillips shared two new images on Instagram from the upcoming movie Joker: Folie à Deux. In one image, Phoenix, who plays Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, in the movies, can be seen on the other side of a door, while his costar Lady Gaga looks toward him in a second image.

“Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year,” Phillips wrote in a caption.

Gaga and Phillips both confirmed principal photography for the sequel wrapped in April, when they each shared images of the pop star-turned-actress and Phoenix in clown makeup on their Instagram pages.

Phillips offered a first look at Gaga taking on the high-profile role back on Valentine’s Day.

In previous DC films, including Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, the role of Harley Quinn has been played by Margot Robbie.

Lily Gladstone shares her favorite Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance

Lily Gladstone reminisces about her childhood as an ardent admirer of her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Beyond discussing how DiCaprio’s work influenced her acting aspirations, she discloses that her favorite performance of his is in the 1998 film “The Man in the Iron Mask,” where DiCaprio portrays both King Louis XIV and his exiled twin brother Phillippe in Randall Wallace’s adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ novel. “I already knew at that point I wanted to be an actor,” Gladstone told People, “and getting to see one actor play that kind of duality, it was really cool.”

Joker tracked the mental decline of wannabe comic and clown Arthur Fleck, after being socially and romantically rejected. His violent Joker persona emerges as a result, and he goes on to become a cult hero.

Phoenix won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance, and the film made more than $1bn at the box office to become the most profitable R-rated movie of all time.
