KARACHI: Unknown suspects robbed a jewelry store located in Clifton area and managed to steal over 12 kilograms of gold worth over Rs10 crores.
This robbery is considered the biggest heist in the city this year. The criminals looted a jewelry store in Teen Talwar area of the metropolis when it was closed. A case has been registered in the Clifton police station against the incident.
The complaint, Muhammad Asif, said they sell ready-made jewelry and gold bricks at their shop. He said he went home after closing his shop on Monday evening. When he returned the next day, he was shocked to see that four locks were broken, he said.
Asif said he later found out that more than 12 kilograms of gold and jewelry were stolen from his shop. He said there is only one entrance gate to the market which was locked and there are four watchmen over there. He said there is no safe vault in the shop and the items were placed inside a showcase.
DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz said the incident was reported to police several hours after it had taken place. However, he said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
