ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal has rejected the reservations of the business community against the bureau.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the Chairman said, “Allegations leveled by traders on NAB are unjustified. The bureau will never take unfriendly steps against businessmen.”
The NAB chairman stated, “Not merely a single institution responsible for the economic crisis, we are neither without reins nor wholly independent. it will be difficult to remain silent under the fire of criticism.”
Javed Iqbal further said, “We will not let businessmen get demoralised as we aim for eradication of corruption only.”
He stated, “Some of the traders’ impressions regarding NAB are unreasonable and I negate some of the business community’s concerns about the bureau.”

He said. “Traders expressed reservations over NAB during their meeting with the Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.”
He added, “The bureau will never take unfriendly steps for businessmen NAB does not formulate business policies.”
He mentioned, “I have never demanded an arbitrary authority NAB functions independently but within the Constitution.”
