Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa remarked on Saturday that it is not men’s honor, but their arrogance, that drives them to commit violence against women.
Speaking at a symposium in Islamabad titled “Justice for Everybody,” the CJP emphasized that no religion has granted women more rights than Islam. “Our religion and the country’s constitution provide women with the right to education and other essential rights,” he stated.
Justice Isa highlighted that the first word of the first revelation (Wahi) made to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was ‘Iqra’ (Read), which does not differentiate between males and females.
He also called for mandatory education for children aged 6 to 16, stressing that no nation can progress without justice.
The CJP noted that the performance of many women in assemblies on reserved seats often surpasses that of men.
Justice Isa underscored the importance of ensuring women’s representation in all areas of life. He expressed concern over the issue of women being denied their rightful share in property, despite clear guidelines in Islam regarding their entitlement to ancestral properties.
