Jerusalem/Damascus: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved plans to expand Israeli settlements in the occupied Golan Heights, a Syrian territory seized during the 1967 Six-Day War.
Netanyahu’s government formally approved the expansion, further cementing Israel’s control over the strategic region despite international condemnation.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military infrastructure continue unabated. In the past week alone, Israeli forces conducted over 800 aerial bombings, targeting Syrian military bases, airports, and weapons depots.
Reports indicate that the infrastructure in Quneitra, a southern Syrian city, has been completely destroyed, and Israeli forces have also captured three Syrian towns in the region.
In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that the Jewish state will pay a “heavy price” for occupying Syrian land. Salami declared that “Syria will become a graveyard for Israeli forces.”
The latest developments underscore escalating hostilities in the region, with concerns growing over further destabilization and regional conflict.
