In the 30th and final league match of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 79 runs.
According to details, in the match played in Rawalpindi, Karachi Kings won the toss against Islamabad United and chose to field first. Match was dedicated to breast cancer awareness in PSL 10. Islamabad United took the field wearing a special pink-colored kit, while Karachi Kings participated wearing pink caps.
Batting first, Islamabad United scored 251 runs for the loss of five wickets. Openers Alex Hales and Sahibzada Farhan provided a brilliant start to the team.
They put together a 153-run partnership for the first wicket. Sahibzada Farhan scored 73 runs off 41 balls with nine fours and three sixes before getting out, while Alex Hales made 88 runs off just 35 balls, hitting eight sixes and six fours. Shadab Khan scored 42 runs before being dismissed.
In response, Karachi Kings’ Tim Seifert and David Warner gave a 56-run start. Seifert was out after scoring 26 runs. In-form James Vince was dismissed by Imad Wasim after scoring only 8 runs.
Apart from them, Saad Baig could only score 5 runs. After Karachi Kings’ captain David Warner was dismissed for an individual score of 43, the team lost momentum.
Chasing a big target, wickets kept falling at regular intervals. After losing eight wickets for 114, Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal showed some resistance. Abbas Afridi scored 34, and Aamer Jamal made 16 before getting out, and the entire team was bowled out for 172.
From Islamabad United, Shadab Khan took four wickets and Imad Wasim took two. With this win, Islamabad United will face the top team Quetta Gladiators in Qualifier 1, while third-placed Karachi Kings will face Lahore Qalandars in the Eliminator.
