ISLAMABAD: A laborer was allegedly tortured by some officers of the Koral police station in Islamabad over A fake case.
According to sources, the investigating officer of Koral police station along with his subordinate staff tortured the poor laborer by turning him upside down in the police station and hitting him with a plastic pipe.
The violence left bruises on the young man’s body. Meanwhile, the police kept demanding huge bribes from the heirs to release the youth.
After 15 hours, the Koral police declared the youth innocent and sent him home from the police station. The victim has filed an application with IG Islamabad seeking justice.
Asif Ali, a resident of Bilal Town, submitted a written request to the IG Islamabad by providing all details of the violence that took place two days ago.
Asif, the brother of the victim, said that on April 18, at 6 am, an ASI, a constable and another person stationed at Koral police station came home in a private vehicle and took his brother Kashif to the police station.
“About 2 o’clock in the afternoon when I went to the police station, I saw the police officers torturing my brother with plastic pipe,” he said.
Asif said the policemen also demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 and threatened to get involved in serious cases if they told anyone. “My brother Kashif used to work for Penaflex and welding with a man named Omar who made a false complaint against my brother in the police,” he said.
The victim’s family alleged that the police illegally assisted Omar, severely tortured Kashif with a plastic pipe. Later the police acquitted and released him. “Justice should be done with us and strict action should be taken against the policemen,” they demanded.
