Fiverr, an online marketplace, where individuals and businesses can buy and sell a wide range of digital services, known as “gigs.” These services span various categories such as graphic design, digital marketing, writing and translation, video and animation, programming and tech, music and audio, business, lifestyle, and more.

The platform enables freelancers, commonly known as sellers, to showcase their skills and services to potential clients, referred to as buyers. Sellers create profiles detailing their expertise and offered services, including pricing and delivery timeframes. Buyers can then browse these profiles, select desired services, and place orders.

Operating on a model where basic services can start at $5, Fiverr allows sellers to provide additional features and packages at higher price points. The platform facilitates communication, order management, payment processing, and dispute resolution between buyers and sellers.

It is worth noting that since its establishment, Fiverr has evolved into one of the largest online marketplaces for freelancers, expanding its offerings to cater to diverse industries and needs.

What did Pakistan’s caretaker minister for IT claim about Fiverr?

Umar Saif, Pakistan’s interim minister for IT & Telecom, as well as Science & Technology, has faced criticism for his decision to block the widely-used social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. Once again, Saif finds himself in the spotlight for controversial reasons. The minister alleges that political groups are utilizing Fiverr to hire individuals to post political content on LinkedIn.

A lot of troll posts on LinkedIn, which is new. Once you click on their profile, do you know where most of them work?
Freelancers on Fiverr/Upwork!

“A lot of troll posts on LinkedIn, which is new. Once you click on their profile, do you know where most of them work? Freelancers on Fiverr/Upwork! Political parties paying unemployed folks on Fiverr/Upwork a few bucks to post crap on LinkedIn. I am sure same is true for Twitter and other social networks. PTI’s social media machine seems well-funded, carefully orchestrated and willing to go to any extent to spread fake news,” Umar Saif posted on X.

However, he has not presented any evidence to support his claim, and it remains unverified.

Here is how netizens reacted to the caretaker minister unverified claim;

No one is paying anyone you dimwit.
I know it’s hard for you to swallow the pill but this is what all of Pakistan’s youth stands for & believes in.
