Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, a 26-year-old Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Punjab, is being considered for the top role in Pakistan Women’s Cricket.
This comes after Tania Mallick stepped down to pursue new opportunities, particularly expanding women’s cricket at the grassroots level.
Shehrbano gained national recognition for her bravery in rescuing a woman from a mob in Lahore’s Ichra Bazaar, who was mistakenly accused of blasphemy due to her Arabic-printed clothing.
ASP Shehrbano Naqvi put her life in danger and invaded the midst of the agitated crowd, positioning herself between the girl and her accusers. She not only addressed the mob, and urged them to step back and allow her to handle the situation peacefully, she also escorted the girl safely from there.
Her courageous act earned her widespread admiration from celebrities, civil, and military officials. She was even recommended for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal for bravery .
